I watched [[imdb:0120679 Frida]] on Tuesday night, and can see what all of the fuss was about. Salma Hayek is really fantastic as the beloved 20th century Mexican artist.
Hayek really captures a very spirited person who unfortunately lives a hard life of pain and betrayal. It is an interesting insight into a marriage of two revered artists caught up in the Mexican and Russian Revolutions. It was fun to see two good English actors (Alred Molina and Roger Rees) playing two very non-English roles. Geoffrey Rush plays well the marxist philosopher Leon Trotsky, and Ashley Judd as the influencial Tina Modotti.
Other notables: the makeup is quite good and the score sticks with you.. Salma definitely looks aged at the start of the movie. It makes sense that both of these were awarded Academy Awards.
