Drem [Music,My Music]

I’m continually amazed at how I can never seem to finish some songs, yet others only take a few hours. This would fall into the latter category, I just started it yesterday.

Drem is a cute little village outside of Edinburgh, and is even closer to Gullane where I spent a number of summers as a kid. I always liked the place, and the name. Why on earth the name came to mind while writing this I have no idea, but I like it.

What a Drag [Journal]

Hello friends, long time no write. Good grief, has it really been over two months!? And it’s not even like I didn’t have things to write about — I guess I just get lazy I suppose. I actually had several stalled previous attempts. Maybe I’ll backdate some later, about my OBX week for instance.

Last night my neighbors, Med and Bill, had a drag party. I’ve only been to one other drag event, back in college at the Hippo in Baltimore, so I don’t have much to compare to, but it was a fun time. They encouraged guests to come in drag, and a number of people did (both men and women). But yeah no, not for me thanks. They set up a stage in their backyard and there were a few drag performances, some good and some not so much, but all quite silly and campy. As expected, there were some truly outrageous costumes.

Ian from work was also going, so he parked at my place and we walked over together. He actually knew quite a number of people, an advantage of living in the area for so many years I suppose. Ran into Billy from work as well, what a small world. Toward the end of the party I realized that their house has the same floor plan as mine, with one minor difference that almost made me miss it. Both houses are nearly 80 years old, so I guess it’s not surprising that they both would have had changes in that time. But it was one of those _aha_ moments, which I enjoy so much.

Otherwise it was a slow weekend. It rained all day today, probably one of the first truly soaking rains I’ve had in this house. As such I wondered how my basement was holding up, turns out not so great. Any wall that had dirt behind it (that would be most, in a basement) seemed to be leaking to some degree. *Grrrr.* And this is after I discovered that some wet-rot in my roof last weekend. Dang, always something to do.
