Well, I suppose a blog writer is supposed to have more opinions. This is a bit hard for me, as I tend not to have very strong opinions, or at least not that I make readily public. I guess it stems from my reserved nature. But anyway, I digress, I wanted to give my two cents on the subject on the California recall.
WTF? It is so ridiculous it almost doesn’t warrant attention, except that it is such a bastardization of government process it can’t be ignored. Ok, so the recall concept is built into the state constitution, fine, I can accept that. But there is no way it was meant to cover a case like this. So the economy is in the crapper, that’s a shame. And the Enron mess sucked our coffers dry. How are these Gray Davis’ doing? How would a different governor have handled this better? They wouldn’t, in my opinion. This is not to mention that these things happenned BEFORE he was re-elected. If the populace had been so unhappy with Davis, they wouldn’t have re-elected him! Isn’t it just that simple?
Now, I did vote for him, but I exactly thrilled with the guy. It was mostly because none of the other parties put forward a decent competitor. This is the other parties fault, and they shouldn’t get to use the recall to get a “do over”. They had their shot, and they missed it—now shut up and start getting your shit together for 2006.
What is worse, now the proverbial cat is out of the bag. What happpens if Arnie gets elected. Do the Democrats rattle their sabers and attempt to recall him? Where does this insanity end?
