Well, I got the laundry room walls all painted today. It turned out to be quite a chore, a good 4-5 hours of work. DalRae helped a little bit, but she crapped out much earlier than I would have liked. She cleaned up the kitchen though, so that is some consolation. My body is aching, I’m such a damn wuss. My hands are still red, several hours after I put down the roller and brush.
I got some more cleaning done today, going through various and sundry papers, documents, boxes. There is lots more to be done unfortunately. And I seem to not have informed DalRae that I wanted to be done by today. This came as a shock to her, as I expressed my disappointment over not making the self-imposted deadline.
Marcus, the moving guy, came over to see what there was to be taken. It didn’t take him very long, maybe 15 minutes. After walking him through the house, I realized that it really isn’t all that much stuff. He looked almost hurt when I told him that I’d be shipping the books via the postal system. He said his rate is roughly 60 cents a pound. The USPS website says that it is about $0.30/lb, for a 50 lb. box. Probably a better deal to ship em. And they won’t take any chemicals, like fertilizer, cleaners, or paints. I need to find out if they’ll take alcohol. If not, I was thinking I could throw a little shindig to finish off all the firewater I’ve collected over the years. It might could be fun.
DalRae brought over some picture frames that she couldn’t figure out how to assemble. I swear, what is she gonna do when I move? I also got a call from her today when she was trying to sort out FrontPage. I’m just a goto kinda guy I guess. Frankly, it sorta sucks. I suppose it is flattering that people think I’m a capable person, but that’s not really a reward. Anyway, I put together her frames, it wasn’t so bad. Tomorrow she’ll come over and I’ll show her how to put them together.
The plan tomorrow is to paint the laundry room ceiling. As that is the interior’s trim color, we’ll probably touch up the trim all over the place too. Joy.
