Took my car into the dealer again today to get the window security-etching, license plate, and sub-woofer. Oh yeah! I’ve got some fine-tuning to do though, as it was pretty muddy/mushy sounding when I left the dealer. An easy fix, two small pots on the unit control gain and cut-off frequency. Now those kicks and basslines will have some real punch to them. heheheheh
Finally uploaded my halloween pictures to my moblog, which seems to have caused my blog to be chosen as an “Editor’s Pick”. So, for the moment there is a little thumbnail, of Jay and Sarah going through the DC metro turnstiles, on the TextAmerica frontpage. It is a strange world, isn’t it?
Finally got some CDs tonight that I ordered from Canada a few week ago. I’m really enjoying what I’ve heard so far, I’ll get a review up in a few days. I’m definitely getting a rush from some of these tracks. Ahhh, a fresh trance fix, this’ll keep me good for a couple weeks.
Speaking of trance, I started messing around with Reason again the last couple of nights. I decided to do things the right way, slowly and in small, managable pieces. So, instead of trying to write a whole song from scratch, while learning a new music application, in a new genre, I’m going to cover an existing song. I chose Ferry Corsten’s Indigo, as it seemed fairly simple to differentiate the individual elements. It is also a song I like that I haven’t heard too many times. It is going alright so far, though I obviously have a lot to learn and explore.
Plans to head up to DC this weekend and see Armin van Buuren spin at Glow@Club Insomnia are now solidified. I’m pretty stoked, he’s now ranked at #3 internationally (for what that ranking is worth). Last time I saw him was last May at 1015 Folsom in SF. That night turned into one of the worst of my life (long painful boring story). So, I’m hoping I’m not haunted by any of those old memories—I’m pretty sure I won’t.
It’ll be good to see Matt again, although I just saw him two weeks ago. Of course, I hadn’t seen him previously for 2 years, since his wedding. Funny how life twists and turns. Other plans for the weekend include the spy museum, catching up, and lots of listening to music, like old times I’d imagine.
Tim, my deskmate, broke a glass at work today—only it didn’t break, more like exploded. It was this crappy IKEA glass, and all the little shards went spraying onto me and my work area. After not-so-careful cleanup, I proceeded to crunch my elbow right onto a little dagger lying on my desk. Injuring an elbow sucks, you need a mirror to see what the hell is going on. Oh well.
